Manila, Aug. 31 — BLACKPINK continued to dominate Billboard’s Hot Trending Songs chart, powered by Twitter, for the second straight week.
According to Billboard, BLACKPINK’s “Pink Venom,” released on Aug. 19, grabbed first place on the Sept. 3-dated Hot Trending Songs chart.
“The track became the first to debut at the summit a week earlier ahead of its official Aug. 19 release,” Billboard reported.
Placing second on the Twitter-based chart is BTS’ “Dynamite” followed by BLACKPINK member Lisa’s “Lalisa” and “Money,” and TWICE’s “Talk That Talk.”
In sixth place is Ha Sung-woon and BTS’ Jimin’s “With You” followed by BTS’ “Yet To Come,” BTS’ Jin’s “Yours,” Dimash’s “Fly Away” and New Suppasit and Bumkey’s “Forever Love.”
The Hot Trending Songs chart is based on “global music-related trends and conversations in real-time across Twitter, viewable over either the last 24 hours or past seven days.”
“A weekly, 20-position version of the chart, covering activity from Friday through Thursday of each week, posts alongside Billboard’s other weekly charts on Billboard.com each Tuesday. The charts highlight buzz around new releases, award shows, festival moments, music nostalgia and more. Hot Trending Songs is unique in that it tracks what songs people are talking about, not necessarily what they’re listening to,” Billboard added.
Following their debut appearance and performance at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, BLACKPINK entered the Billboard Hot 100 with “Pink Venom” charting at No. 22.
“Pink Venom” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. US charts, “boasting the second-biggest worldwide weekly streaming total since the surveys began in September 2020.”
