Robert Pattinson is speaking up about insidious body standards men face, both in and out of Hollywood.

In an interview with ES magazine he said, “Even if you’re just watching your calorie intake, it’s extraordinarily addictive – and you don’t quite realise how insidious it is until it’s too late.”

Robert Pattinson fat diet

Pattinson himself admits to trying every fad diet imaginable.

“I once ate nothing but potatoes for two weeks, as a detox. Just boiled potatoes and Himalayan pink salt. Apparently it’s a cleanse… you definitely lose weight.”

On keto diets he said, “I was like, ‘Oh, there’s a diet where you just eat charcuterie boards and cheese all the time?” But I didn’t realise that you can’t have been as it completely defeats the purpose,” he said.

Robert Pattinson also explained why he doesn’t feel the need to workout and why he didn’t for the Batman film.

“I think if you’re working out all the time, you’re part of the problem. You set a precedent. No one was doing this in the 70’s. Even James Dean – he wasn’t exactly ripped. Literally I’m just barely doing anything.”

He did admit however that he got into hot soup for saying he doesn’t work out. “I just always think it’s really embarrassing to talk about how you’re working out.

Work Out

“I got in so much trouble for saying that I don’t work out, even from my trainer, who was like, ‘Why would you say that?”.

Pattinson’s next film is Mickey 17 which will come out in March 2024. The film is directed and co-produced by Bong Joon-ho and is based on the 2022 novel Mickey 7 written by Edward Ashton. The science fiction story is about an ‘expendable’ boy who is a ‘disposable’ employee on a human expedition sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. After one iteration dies, a new body is generated with its memories intact.
