April McLaughlin, the Arizona woman previously arrested for allegedly neglecting dozens of dogs and storing dead puppies in her freezer, finds herself back in custody facing even more charges related to animal abuse.

The 48-year-old, who ran what authorities are calling a fraudulent special needs dog rescue, is accused of exploiting the public’s generosity by pocketing donations while subjecting 55 dogs in her care to appalling conditions, as detailed in previous reports by The Messenger.
The 77 charges
Initially charged with 55 counts of animal abuse, 55 counts of animal cruelty, and one count of vulnerable adult abuse due to her elderly mother living amidst the squalor, McLaughlin now confronts a staggering 77 misdemeanor charges, including animal abuse, neglect, and abandonment, according to the Chandler Police Department.
This time, the additional charges encompass allegations of not providing essential medical care to the animals, further highlighting the extent of the neglect they endured under McLaughlin’s supposed care.

Furthermore, reports suggest that McLaughlin could potentially face nine felony charges of cruelty to animals, amplifying the severity of the accusations against her.
Tuesday’s arrest comes after a previous raid on her home revealed a grim scene, with dogs found in deplorable conditions, some sitting in their filth, others confined to stacked crates, and many struggling to vocalize.
Shockingly, a number of these animals were reported to have special needs, with authorities expressing concerns that euthanasia might be the only humane option for their future. Additionally, the discovery of five deceased puppies in McLaughlin’s freezer only added to the disturbing nature of the case.
McLaughlin rose to prominence in 2018 after adopting Clyde, a special needs dog and started sharing pictures of the joyful husky across multiple Instagram profiles.
