SINGAPORE – ilmiri Korean Fusion Cuisine, a popular chain from Korea with over 150 outlets, has officially handed over its Singapore operations to a new group of Singaporean investors. The handover, which took place on 17 July 2025, marks a new chapter for the brand’s first direct international expansion out of Korea.

The flagship outlet at 25/26 Circular Road continues its two-unit, 85-seater lease under the new management. The brand, frequently featured in popular K-dramas like Vincenzo and Thirty-Nine, is known for its modern take on the traditional Korean jjimdak. The brand’s special sauce was perfected over three years, leading to a variety of new jjimdaks, including Cloud Cheese, Soy Sauce, Truffle Jjajang and Mala. Its bestseller, the Cloud Cheese Jjimdak, features tender braised chicken and vegetables covered in a cloud-like layer of melted mozzarella cheese.

The new team is led by Michelle Tan, a seasoned entrepreneur with a successful background in gold trading and real estate. Michelle’s investment was spurred by the brand’s vast appeal in Korea and the popularity of Korean culture in Southeast Asia. “I loved it,” Michelle said of ilmiri’s jjimdak. “I thought it was a pity that the brand only had one outlet in Singapore. After some enquiries, I made an offer for the brand, hoping to be able to lend my expertise to expand it and grow its footprint in Singapore and Asia.”

With the new management at the helm, the brand has already introduced new dishes to the menu, such as the Yaki-Udon Jjimdak, a fusion of Korean and Japanese flavours designed for the local audience. Two more new dishes were also added to the menu by the end of July.
