Blackpink’s comeback is confirmed! The Korean girl group’s highly anticipated return has been confirmed by its agency YG Entertainment. A representative from YG Entertainment said on July 6 that the girl group is currently in the final stages of recording their new album and will start shooting their music video in July. They are scheduled to make a come back with new music in August.

According to a source “A lot of music that is BLACKPINK-esque has been completed with much effort over a long period of time. In order to expand BLACKPINK’s emotional connection with fans all over the world, they will set out for the largest-scale world tour in K-pop girl group history until the end of the year along with their comeback. Furthermore, big projects fitting of that status will continuously follow.”

This will be Blackpink’s first comeback in one year and 10 months. Their last release was The Album in 2020 along with title tracks How You Like That and a special collaboration song Ice Cream.

According to the record label’s press release the band is working “a continuous large-scale project which will extend through the second half of the year.” Additionally, “Blackpink will also go on the largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group by the end of the year to expand their rapport with fans worldwide.”

The girl group has had one world tour so far which was titled In Your Area World Tour between 2018 and 2020. The upcoming tour will be their second one though no dates for their music releases and tour have been announced yet. However fans or Blinks as they are known have been going ga ga over their return on social media. (Blinks is the official fandom name for the group).

In March, Jennie appeared on episode eight of Korean YouTube channel The Game Caterers with several other artists from YG Entertainment. It was during this time that she dropped hints about Blackpink’s return.

“Blackpink is also making a comeback soon. I don’t know if I’m allowed to say this, but since I’m the only [Blackpink member] here, I’ll just say it,” she said with a smile. “Please look forward to it. Thank you very much,” she had said.

Just recently, the K-pop girl group became the first musical act to reach 75 million subscribers on YouTube, where they share their music videos, choreography practices, and behind-the-scenes clips. In September 2021, Blackpink was the most-subscribed artist on the platform beating Justin Bieber.
