K-pop boy group BTS has officially become the second ever global artist to top the Social 50 chart in a total of 150 weeks after Justin Bieber according to Billboard on 31 Oct.

This marks their 120th consecutive #1 as the group tops the Billboard Social 50 chart for the week of 24 Oct.

At 163 weeks, Justin Bieber currently holds the highest number of weeks as #1 on the Social 50 chart.

Taylor Swift and Rihanna have the record of 28 weeks and 21 weeks respectively.

This coming December, BTS will be performing at this year’s 2019 Mnet Asian Music Awards as well as the 2019 KBS Gayo Festival.

This is not the only award that was recently given to BTS.

Guinness World Records announced on 23 Oct that BTS has hit the record for the fastest time to reach one million followers on TikTok.

On 25 Sept, 7.40pm KST, BTS joined TikTok and they hit the million mark by 11.11pm KST. In just 3 hours and 31 minutes, BTS set a new record of reaching one million followers.

BTS reached two million followers in 13 hours and three million followers in 59 hours (two and a half days) according to TikTok.

This is not the only Guinness World Record that BTS holds.

Their hit single ‘Boy With Luv’ featuring Halsey gained the Guinness World Records title of ‘Most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours’ (as well as ‘Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours’ and ‘Most viewed YouTube music video in 24 hours by a K-pop group’.

The K-pop boy group also holds ‘Most Twitter engagement (average retweets) for a music group’ title and ‘Most Twitter engagement (average retweets) title.

BTS’s ‘Map of the Soul: Persona’ set the record as the best-selling album in South Korean history.

BTS, also known as Bangtan Boys is a South Korean boy band formed in Seoul in 2013.

Members consist of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook.

The group co-writes and produces most of their material. /TISG
