There’s nothing like a feel-good movie during the festive season and we all have our favourites year after year that can never go wrong. One such film is 2006’s The Holiday which remains an evergreen for many of us.
The film tells the the story of two women who swap homes during the holiday season; Iris stays at Amanda’s swanky Los Angeles home while Amanda goes to Iris’ country home. What surprises both of them is that they find themselves falling in love with the other person’s life and home. Amanda falls in love with Iris’ brother Graham while Iris finds love with Amanda’s colleague Miles.
The romantic comedy starring Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black made a cool £200 million at the box office.
The foursome, all now in their late 40’s and early 50’s have agreed to come onboard for the sequel which will start filming next year.
The Holiday
According to one Hollywood insider who spoke to The Sun, “The plan is to start rolling on scenes next year, primarily in the U.K and in Europe, but the main talent are all signed up and on board. It’s one of the most successful movies of its kind and still enjoyed every year by millions of fans around the world – it makes perfect sense to revisit those characters and find out what became of their lives after they hooked up.
It’ll be funny, poignant and heartwarming – just what everyone wants for Christmas.”
The film will be shot primarily in the United Kingdom and Europe.
In an interview with Glamour magazine Diaz had said that filming The Holiday felt almost like they were making two separate movies.
“The funny thing is that I did a lot of acting on my own, and just with Jude. Because we only had one scene with Jack and Kate. Our characters never crossed over. Basically Kate and Jack did their movie; Jude and I did ours. We only had the one scene at the end, where we all came together, and we shot that kind of at the beginning of the [shoot].”
