In a boxing exhibition bout versus martial artist and South Korean YouTuber DK Yoo on Saturday night, Manny Pacquiao returned to the ring.
Pacquiao entered the ring to fight for the first time since his defeat to Yordenis Ugas in August 2021. Pointless exhibition bouts like this are starting to become quite typical among the best names in boxing. DK Yoo, a beginner in boxing with a popular YouTube channel dedicated to teaching traditional martial arts, would be the opponent.
DK Yoo’s fight
While DK Yoo did little more than hang in there and survive. Pacquiao controlled the whole fight, as was to be expected.Yoo’s blows and combinations didn’t look too horrible. But they didn’t do anything to hurt Pacquiao compared to how easily “Pac-Man” knocked Yoo out.
Unlike Floyd Mayweather in his most recent set of exhibitions, Manny took things slowly. This happened throughout the opening two rounds but didn’t muck around too much.
Pacquiao upped the ante in the third round and intensified his body attacks. Yoo continued to throw Manny a pawing jab in an effort to keep him outside. Pacquiao was able to enter the fight whenever he wanted and score his own overhands and punches.
Pacquiao knocked Yoo to the ground at the conclusion of the fourth round, but it was ruled a slip. Yoo, being pursued by Pacquiao throughout the fifth round as he repeatedly launched forward to strike him in the jaw. After being saved from a punch to the back of the head by the referee, Yoo needed some time to collect himself.
As Manny chased DK around the ring in the sixth and final round, he was all business. He then lunged forward and delivered a hard punch to Yoo’s face, sending him to the ground.
For whatever reason, the referee allowed a time out before restarting play. Pacquiao again launched an attack in search of the victory.
When Yoo finally lost his balance after being backed into the ropes by him, the fall was deemed to be another slip. Before he can stand up again, the round’s timer rang out, DK Yoo was declared the victor, and the fight continued.
