Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck getting married may seem like destiny, seeing as they were dating then they broke up and they’re now back together again. The superstar couple’s on and off relationship has been the subject of much speculation since early 2000.
The duo finally got married in Las Vegas on July 17th. Popularly known as Bennifer, Lopez described the wedding as the “best night of our lives”.
“We flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world. We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight. They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed),” said Lopez in a fan newsletter.
A marriage license was issued on Saturday in Clark County, Nevada.
“The wedding included a dress from an old movie, and a jacket from Affleck’s closet. In the end it was the best possible wedding we could have imagined,” said Lopez.
She also spoke about the duration of time that she has known Affleck and their tumultuous relationship.
“We did it. Love is beautiful. Love is kind. And it turns out love is patient. Twenty years patient.”
So far there has been no public statement from Affleck. After their initial break up in early 2000, Affleck married actress Jennifer Garner and Lopez married singer Marc Anthony.
However the couple rekindled their romance during the pandemic sometime in the spring of 2021.
In an interview with the New York Times in 2020, Affleck spoke about his alcoholism and mental health issues . He also said that divorcing Jennifer Garner was his “biggest regret”.
Lopez had said on the Ellen DeGeneres Show that she never expected to go back to Affleck.
“I don’t think anybody was more surprised than us. It’s a beautiful thing,” said the superstar.
