Kim Kardashian seems to be collecting memorabilia, adding the Princess Diana necklace as the latest piece.
She bid for the amethyst and diamond cross shaped necklace from former Crown Jewellers Garrard and purchased it for $197,453. The cross has a total diamond weight of 5.25 carats.
The piece is known as the Attalah Cross and is part of the Sotheby’s Royal and Noble auction owned by British businessman Naim Attallah.
Diana had a close relationship with Garrard and in 1987 he lent her the necklace to wear with a purple and black velvet Catherine Walker & Co for a charity event hosted by the company. Diana liked the piece and had worn it on several occasions.
Sotheby’s London head of jewellery Kristian Spofforth said, “Jewellery owned or worn by the late Princess Diana very rarely comes on the market, especially a piece such as the Attallah cross, which is so colourful, bold and distinctive.
“To some extent, this unusual pendant is symbolic of the princess’s growing self-assurance in her sartorial and jewellery choices, at that particular moment in her life.”

According to a BBC report the Diana necklace was worn by Princess in October 1987 at the London charity gala for Birthright, now called Wellbeing of Women, a medical charity that works to improve the health of women, girls and babies.
During her last public appearance Princess Diana wore the Swan Lake necklace, a diamond and South Sea pearl necklace which the jewellery house made in collaboration with her.
The reality star loves purchasing memorabilia from pop culture and famous people. In 2019, she bought a velvet jacket once worn by Micheal Jackson for her daughter North. She also purchased the hat he wore in the Smooth Criminal video.
Kardashian also wore Marilyn Monroe’s famous nude dress to the met gala after losing 16 pounds to get into it. Now she owns the Diana necklace.
