Kim Kardashian caused some consternation at the Victoria Beckham fashion show in Paris when she arrived late, leaving Vogue’s Anna Wintour irritated, according to sources. The reality star was an honored guest at Victoria Beckham’s Spring-Summer ’24 show at the former home of Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld.
An onlooker reported that Kim Kardashian was super late and that Wintour was unhappy because the show was delayed until Kardashian came. Wintour was late to the other shows so she left before Victoria Beckham did her walk in front of guests after showing the collection.
Fashionably late
Kardashian, accompanied by her mother, Kris Jenner, was seated next to Wintour. It’s worth noting that the Kardashian family has a reputation for keeping people waiting before making their entrance at fashion shows.
According to the UK Telegraph’s head of fashion, Lisa Armstrong, it is the Kardashian’s fashion show routine to have everybody waiting at least 50 minutes before ‘making their entrance’.
At Victoria Beckham on Friday, Anna Wintour was visibly unamused, tapping her watch repeatedly in the direction of the PRs before the show finally started once the Kardashians had swept in.
Wintour had to leave early
Despite rumors of tension between Kardashian and Wintour, a source close to Wintour mentioned that they did chat, adding that the Vogue editor-in-chief had to leave early for another engagement.
Another fashion source disputed that the show was delayed for Kardashian, stating that the show’s call time was 5:30 p.m., and it began just before 6 p.m. The source explained that Kim and Kris were only 20 minutes late as they arrived at 5:50pm.
Without [the Kardashians], the show would have begun, but [Beckham’s staff] wasn’t prepared backstage; events don’t typically begin at the time of the invitation. They typically begin 20 to 40 minutes after the scheduled time.
