Hundreds of netizens flooded the Facebook page of Malaysia’s King urging him to appoint Anwar Ibrahim as the Prime Minister.
Most of the messages are about Anwar’s ability to run the country responsibly or how these netizens preferred Anwar.
All the postings are in Malay, indeed, and they are polite in engaging the King on his Facebook page.
But they are not wary of expressing their wishes, in showing their trust in the King’s decision but also their belief Anwar is a better leader for Malaysia.
The post on the Istana Negara’s FB page (which is the King’s official page) has over 4700 likes and 415 comments.
A scrutiny of the comments shows most of the messages are about Anwar and the return of the ‘people’s mandate’.
Some reminded the King that a majority of the Malaysians voted for change in 2018 while others say “Daulat Tuanku, please see the suffering of the people who can only watch the bad leaders squander the nation’s wealth.”
One Zulfadly Ruslan says, “Yang suka berkebun dan cintai alam sekitar ni DSAI jea.. Yang lain termasuk Abah suka main golf.. Hehe..”
He meant that Anwar is the one who likes gardening and the environment while the others, including ‘Abah’ an acronym Muhyiddin Yassin, gave himself meaning Dad, loves golf.
Mohd Sadhtar “Demi negara tercinta…dsai layak diangkat PM9 …UTK MEMACU EKONOMI MALAYSIA LEBIH CEMERLANG….RKYAT SEJAHTERA…”
“For the sake of the beloved nation, DSAI (Anwar) is qualified to be PM9. He will strengthen the economy and make Malaysia great”
Most of them had concerns for the return of the ‘people’s mandate’, the economic situation and the fact that there is a backdoor government. They believe the government, whose leader was appointed by the King in February, is failing the country.
The intent behind the flooding of the FB page is to make King aware of what the people are saying and thinking.
If it was to show how Anwar is a beloved leader among the Malays, the mission is a success.
A look at the messages shows that a majority of the messages are from Malays. This is contrary to beliefs that Anwar do not have the support of the Malay community.
This is a sampling that should be considered and the users made it clear to the King: They support Anwar and they trust both the King and Anwar. They also trust the King will do the right thing, that is to appoint Anwar as PM.
One of the post says the following:
Kanniah Amirtha Raj
“IT IS THE HUMBLE REQUEST OF THE PEOPLE OF MALAYSIA THAT THEIR PLIGHT BE HEARD AND THE BACK DOOR GOVERNMENT BE REMOVED WITH THE THE POWER VEDTED IN THE HANDS OF OUR AGONG…PLEASE MAKE A WISE DECISION TO ENSURE THE COUNTRY PROGRESSES…WE NEED TO HAVE DSAI IN SOONEDT POSSIBLE…”
Another one says:
Daulat Tuanku. Your Majesty, we reject current PM that practice double standards in many occasions not to mention recent menteri pertanian. He cannot make just decision because HE HAS TO please too many of them to gain support to secure his pathetic majority.
“Your Majesty, the country needs a PM who has in-depth knowledge in economic, who can bring in investors, who is moderate enough to be sensitive on all races. We need DSAI. destiny of our nation is in your hand Your Majesty. Daulat Tuanku.”
Will the King listen to the call from the heart of these Facebook users?
A few days before this post, the King’s FB page published a series of photographs that for many is worth a thousand words.
The photos showed the King with Muhyiddin Yassin before an audience the Prime Minister was granted at the Istana Negara.
While the country is waiting for the King to give a firm response to Anwar’s recent audience with him, the pictures with Muhyiddin made many believe it was an endorsement of Muhyiddin’s government.
The messages posted in this post was already clear. The people were sending messages to the King to make the ‘right decision in appointing a new PM’ or ‘the country should get rid of a backdoor government’.
