Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds recently purchase an ownership stake in US carrier Mint Mobile. The California based company offers low-cost data plans with unlimited talk and text to those who bring their own phones to the network.

The carrier is an MVNO that operates on T-Mobile’s nationwide LTE network. The latest promotion from Mint Mobile $45 for three months’ service with 12 GB of data per month. By paying for a few months at a time, you renew your service to up to 12 months.

According to Reynolds, the way it works is unconventional which may be what consumers need. Usually, celebrities invest in luxury products such as skincare brands or gin companies.

As for Mint, it is making wireless more affordable while the average American is paying 65 dollars a month. He added that he is excited to champion a more practical approach to the most essential technology.

Mint CEO David Glickman says the carrier’s consumer-centric approach and maniacal focus on generating consumer value have pushed Mint into hyper-growth mode.

He added that it’s fitting that the most disruptive wireless company is now owned by the most innovative marketer on the planet.

Reynolds will be in charge of Mint’s communication team, marketing efforts and strategic decision making.

The Hollywood actor played the protagonists for both Detective Pikachu and Deadpool.

Born Ryan Rodney Reynolds on October 23, 1976, the Canadian-American actor is also a comedian, film producer and screenwriter.

He debuted his acting career in Canadian teen soap opera Hillside and had a role as Michael Bergen on the sitcom Two Guys and a Girl.

He has acted in several films such as National Lampoon’s Van Wilder, Waiting…, and The Proposal.
