Well-known writer-of-comics Mark Millar who previously worked for Marvel and DC has said that Taron Egerton will be the next star to play Wolverine.

The writer of Kick-Ass and Kingsman comics was tweeted by a fan who reminded the writer that the had correctly predicted the future twice in one of his comics.

In response, Millar posted: “Always remember I’m never wrong. PS Taron Egerton will be the next Wolverine.”

Australian actor Hugh Jackman said that he would not be playing Wolverine in 2017 after 17 years, leading to lots of speculation on who would be the next star to play the superhero.

Millar wrote The Ultimates which partly inspired Marvel’s original Avengers movie, Ultimate Fantastic Four, Wolverine: Old Man Logan, which was the inspiration for Fox’s Logan movie.

Egerton and Millar have worked together previously with the actor acting as Gary ‘Eggsy’ Unwin in Kingsman: The Secret Service and its sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle based on comics by Millar who is also executive producer on the movies.

Gossip about Egerton becoming the next Wolverine has been going on for awhile that even the actor has addressed them but the modest star isn’t so sure.

Egerton was reported as saying: “That one, I think, is just a rumour. As far as I’m aware it’s unfounded. I don’t know if I’m quite grisly enough.

“I mean, if the people at Marvel think I am, then great, let’s go. But I think there are better candidates. But I would love to be involved with that world somewhere.”

Egerton won’t be appearing on the third movie in the Kingsman franchise, The King’s Man.

The upcoming movie due to be released in February is a prequel to the two previous movies and centres on the origins of the spy agency.

Matthew Vaughan, director of the movie has confirmed a fourth movie, confusingly named Kingsman 3.

It forms part of a trilogy alongside Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Vaughan said Egerton will be back in the movie, telling Digital Spy: “We’ve got to finish off the Eggsy and Harry relationship. The final chapter of their relationship needs to be told, which we’ve got ready to do, and I’m hoping to shoot that later this year or the beginning of next year.”
