Like many other stars of late, Taylor Swift is also in hot soup over the usage of her private jet. According to data by celebrity jet tracker Celebjets, the singer’s personal plane was used 170 times between January 1st and July 29.

The information was gleaned from ADS-B Exchange which is known for having “the world’s largest public source of unfiltered flight data.”

The Top 10 carbon emission offenders included names like Oprah Winfrey, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Floyd Mayweather and Jay-Z. However sustainability marketing agency Yard crowned Swift as the top polluter of the year.

According to Yard, the Grammy winner’s private jet spent about 23,000 minutes or 16 days in the air during the first 200 days of 2022.

Based on this Yard estimated Swift’s jet racked up 8,293.54 tons of emissions this year which is approximately 1,184.8 times more than the average person’s total annual emissions.

Yard also stated that Swift’s aircraft had therefore travelled about 139.36 miles with an average flight time of 80 minutes. The shortest 2022 flight was 36 minutes from Missouri to Nashville.

Due to this Swift has been trolled and received considerable backlash online.

Comments referring to her taking the plane for ordinary activities abounded such as:

“Taylor Swift on her way to the grocery store.

“Taylor on her way back to chipotle after they forgot her guac”

“When Taylor Swift uses a private jet, I hope y’all understand”

Other comments included lashing out at her stating,

“Taylor Swift saying she wants to run away to the lakes and live out the rest of her life surrounded by nature and then being responsible for 8923 tonnes of carbon emissions is sooo unserious.”

However Swift’s team says the report is misleading.

“Taylor’s jet is loaned out regularly to other individuals. To attribute most or all of these trips to her is blatantly incorrect,” said her representative to E!Online.
