Hong Kong – Three months after the scandal involving TVB actress Jacqueline Wong and singer-actor Andy Hui blew up; it would seem that their affected partners have chosen to walk the higher road.

Andy Hui’s wife, Cantopop superstar Sammi Cheng, has publicly expressed her forgiveness for her husband’s actions.

Kenneth Ma, on the other hand, openly addressed his relationship with Jacqueline Wong and said they were “friends.”

According to an Oriental Daily report published on July 6 (Saturday), Ma was found defending Wong a couple of times throughout an interview.

When he was asked whether he was still in contact with Wong, who is known to be currently residing in the United States, he said, “We are friends, I feel that everyone has overreacted slightly over the matter. It’s difficult to pinpoint blame in a relationship, there is no need for everyone to react so strongly, no need to attack her [Wong]. She also knows that she’s in the wrong, but who hasn’t made a mistake before?”

Many suspect that the two broke up as a result of the scandal where Wong was caught being intimate with Hui at the back of a taxi. Video footage of the incident was released on April 16.

Like Cheng, Ma has extended his forgiveness for Wong’s actions, although he hinted that his next girlfriend would not be someone that was fixated on material possessions.

“I’ve said before, I was angry, but it was only for a while. I was more worried than angry afterwards,” said Ma. “I hope that everyone will not react so strongly in the future and give her a chance.”

As for the chances of ever working with Wong in the future, Ma was not closed to the idea.

“Ok! I don’t mind, I’ve already said that we are friends, and she’s not my father’s murderer, no need to blow up relationship matters,” said the actor.

In a Straits Times article on July 1, it was mentioned that Wong had allegedly asked Ma to spend one month with her in the US where she is currently taking directing and acting classes.

The actor, however, confirmed in the recent interview that he did not intend to look for Wong in the US contrary to other reports.

Ma’s mother is said to be unsupportive of the idea and is worried about her son. He assured everyone that he was fine. -/TISG
