Elton John will be singing in Australia for the last time this weekend and tickets don’t come cheap. The 75-year-old singer is offering VIP tickets at a staggering $1,749. The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour will kick off in Melbourne on Jan 13 and 14 and Sydney on Jan 18 and 19 before ending in Brisbane on January 21.
VIP tickets
The VIP ticket includes a deluxe seat, drinks and canapés and a photo opportunity with John’s iconic Yamaha grand piano but unfortunately not with the singer.
There’s another VIP ticket at $1,499 which features a seat in the first 10 rows and a photo with John’s piano. These ticket holders won’t get a chance to be photographed with him either.
The iconic singer first performed in Australia 51 years ago at Sydney’s Randwick Racecourse in October 1971.
After he completes the current tour, the singer would have performed 233 concerts in Australia, the third most of any country aside from United Kingdom and United States.
In fact the last time he performed in Australia his concert sold more than 700,000 tickets.
“Playing live to other human beings is the greatest gift any artist could ever have.”
For those fans who aren’t going to fork out such exorbitant amounts to see him, tickets are also available for a more reasonable price of $250.
World Tour
John posted on Instagram story recently, “I wanted to take this chance early into 2023 to thank you for 2022. You’ve been amazing, I will be seeing you in Newcastle in Australia on 8th of January.”
The singer will complete his Farewell Yellow Brick Road World Tour in Stockholm in July.
Elton John has broken global records and his 1997 track ‘Candle in the Wind’ is the biggest-selling single in history. He has sold more than 300 million records worldwide and has been touring for more than 50 years.
The singer achieved stardom in the 70’s and his fame and success has lasted throughout the decades. He continued to record new music until recently including music for films and theatre, composing songs for movies like The Lion King, Aida and Billy Elliot the Musical.
