Ex Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill said that Donald Trump is even more dangerous than dictators from World War 2.

In an interview with CNBC she said, “A lot of people have tried to draw similarities between Mussolini and Hitler and the use of the terminology like vermin and the drive that those men had towards autocracy and dictatorship.”

“The difference, though, I think makes Donald Trump even more dangerous. And that is he has no philosophy he believes in. He’s not trying to expand the boundaries of the United States of America, he’s not trying to overcome a neighbouring country like [Russian President Vladimir] Putin is in Ukraine, he’s not going through some grandiose scheme of international dominance.”

Dictators and Trump alike

McCaskill says the correlation with dictators makes Trump a chilling threat. She says that all he wants to do is look in the mirror and see a guy who’s president. All he cares about is selfish, self-promotion. She said that this seems the be the only philosophy he has which makes him very dangerous as he has actually declared that he is willing to terminate the Constitution to keep himself in power.

“The irony is all these supposed conservative folks that have populated the Republican Party, often go around with their thumb in their mouth, going, “Well, yeah, OK. I guess so,’ It’s bizarre,” she said.

The ex-senator is not the only one who thinks so. Harvard Medical School Associate Professor of Psychiatry Leonard Glass told the New York Times that Trump calling his opponents vermin shows how far he would go in crushing American democracy.

Yesmen

Glass said that he feared Trump will house his administration should he come into power with yes-men who will not question his most aggressive impulses which could lead to dark days for the United States.

“If Trump – in adopting language that he cannot help knowingly replicates that of Hitler (especially the references to opponents as ‘vermin’ and ‘poisoning the blood of our country’, we have to wonder if he has crossed into new terrain. That terrain, driven by grandiosity and dread of exposure (eg.. at the trials) could signal the emergence of an even less constrained, more overtly vicious and remorseless Trump who, should he regain the presidency, would, indeed act like the authoritarians he praises.”
