Alyssa: Trump a threat
Currently a co-host on “The View” and formerly a communications director, Alyssa Farah Griffin, spoke candidly on ABC News’s “This Week,” asserting, “Fundamentally, a second Trump term could mean the end of American democracy as we know it.”
Griffin vehemently criticized Trump for his baseless claims of a rigged 2020 presidential election, declaring that the former president would stop at nothing and will do everything to acquire and retain power.
Cassidy Hutchinson
A former White House aide who testified during congressional subcommittee hearings on the January 6 Capitol riot, Hutchinson characterized Trump as a “weak and feeble man.”
She took issue with his recent joking assertion that he would become a dictator on “day one” of his hypothetical return to the White House. Hutchinson emphasized the urgent need for a united effort to ensure Trump’s defeat if he secures the Republican Party nomination.
Sarah Matthews
Former deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that she, despite never having voted for a Democrat before, would prioritize democracy over policy considerations in the upcoming election.
Matthews highlighted Trump’s potential threat to the country, urging a collective focus on preventing his return to power.
Allies turning vocal critics
In response to the interview, Trump took to Truth Social to share past praise from the three women during their time in his administration.
He cited a statement from Alyssa Farah in February 2021, in which she suggested moving on from discussions about the January 6th events.
Trump’s rebuttal underscores the growing tension within the Republican ranks as former allies turn vocal critics, setting the stage for a contentious political battle ahead.
