In their second matchup this month, Bangladesh once again thumped Singapore, 8-0, at the Bir Shrestha Shahid Mostafa Kamal Stadium (Kamalapur Stadium) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

This was the fourth thumping for the Singapore women’s team. (see picture below).

In September, Singapore also made their inaugural appearance at the Hangzhou Asian Games. They competed against North Korea, to which they unfortunately lost twice. Their team was thumped 0-7 in the first match and 0-10 in their second match.

Bangladesh vs Singapore

In the build-up to the match, the Singapore women’s national football team was looking to avenge their previous 3-0 defeat to the opposing camp, Bangladesh, and brought in Borussia Dortmund striker Danelle Tan into their starting lineup.

However, Bangladesh remained on its toes, showed no signs of going easy on Singapore, and was even, at times, more aggressive in the game.

During the first match, Bangladesh’s formidable duo, Tahura Khatun and Ritu Porna Chakma, took hold of the reigns and led Bangladesh in scoring.

Although Bangladesh thrashed Singapore 8-0 in the second leg of their two-game series this month, all hope is not lost for Singapore.

With 1091.54 points, Singapore is now ranked 130th.

Singapore also won their previous Women’s Friendlies bout against Pakistan on July 18 this year. The match was scoreless throughout the first match, but Singapore’s Farah Nurzahirah managed to score a decisive goal in the 81st minute.

And after holding off Pakistan in an emphatic fashion throughout the remaining minutes, Singapore won their lone match, 1-0.
