Juneteenth

The fight against preserving American culture continues on with those working at Emory Healthcare kissing their Christmas Eve holidays goodbye. Furthermore, conservatives are claiming that Christmas Eve is meant for everyone to celebrate. For obvious reasons, this is angering a good chunk of Americans.

According to the Washington Times, Emory Healthcare announces plans to replace the company’s Christmas Eve holiday with Juneteenth in the pursuit of “greater” equity. Following that, the change will require employees to take paid time off or work on Christmas Eve.

This is a decision aiming at recognizing the significance of Juneteenth, which falls on June 19th. However, this is also for the company to maintain a total of nine annual paid holidays. Emory Healthcare CEO Joon S. Lee states in a memo that this alteration is intended to create more opportunities for celebration, reflection, and education among employees.

Conservatives on X claims nobody celebrates Juneteenth

Furthermore, there are several users who demand that the company recognises that these two days should be public holidays. The company claims to have the strength of diversity, hence, users are asking them to diversify their holidays. It appears many are vehemently unhappy with forcing others to take Christmas Eve off.

In addition to this, some users joke that one day thanksgiving will be replaced with national vegan day. However, others fear that these companies will take wind of this revolutionary idea. Many state that X users should not joke about the other made up holidays that may sound woke.

Following that, some users accuse the healthcare center of wanting full equality among Blacks and Whites. They joke that the institution might unalive a White person if a Black person under their care is unalive under a similar circumstance. However, this is a serious allegation towards a healthcare corporation and it seems the user is joking and not rooting their statements on factual evidence.

Some do not even know what Juneteenth is. Others state that it is when the slaves in America are freed. It is indeed an important footnote in history to show that those under the oppression are now free. However, a less provocative way is for them to either add it as a new holiday or replace another less sensitive holiday for it.
