After President Joe Biden stepped aside from the 2024 presidential race, Vice President, Kamala Harris’ endorsements poured in as she took center stage. The decision, which came after weeks of mounting pressure from fellow Democrats, has ignited a wave of support for Harris, who has quickly become the front-runner in the race to secure the Democratic nomination.
Within hours of Biden’s announcement, Harris’s campaign saw an influx of support, raising over $50 million in less than a day. In a heartfelt message, Harris expressed her gratitude to President Biden for his leadership and service, stating her intention to earn and win the nomination.
“On behalf of the American people, I thank Joe Biden for his extraordinary leadership as President of the United States and his decades of service to our country,” Harris wrote in a public response to the news. “I am honored to have the President’s endorsement and my intention is to earn and win this nomination.”

Kamala Harris’ endorsements
Former President Barack Obama wasted no time in endorsing Harris, describing her as a “happy warrior” and pledging his support to help her defeat former President Donald Trump in November. In a touching video, Harris received a call from the Obamas, with Michelle Obama emphasizing the historic nature of Harris’s campaign.
“We called to say Michelle and I couldn’t be prouder to endorse you and do everything we can to get you through this election and into the Oval Office,” Obama tells Harris over the phone.
Michelle Obama tells Harris, “I am proud of you. This is going to be historic.”
Rep. Nancy Pelosi, a fellow Californian, also threw her support behind Harris, highlighting her strength, courage, and commitment to public service. Pelosi’s endorsement came with a strong personal and political conviction that Harris would lead the party to victory.
“My enthusiastic support for Kamala Harris for President is official, personal and political,” she said in a statement. “Officially, I have seen Kamala Harris’s strength and courage as a champion for working families, notably fighting for a woman’s right to choose. I have known Kamala Harris for decades as rooted in strong values, faith, and a commitment to public service. Politically, make no mistake: Kamala Harris as a woman in politics is brilliantly astute — and I have full confidence that she will lead us to victory in November.”
The Clintons, too, joined the chorus of support, thanking President Biden for his accomplishments and endorsing Harris. They expressed their deep concern over the threat of a second Trump term and urged support for Harris as crucial for America’s future.
“We join millions of Americans in thanking President Biden for all he has accomplished, standing up for America time and again, with his North Star always being what’s best for the country. We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her,” the Clintons said in a joint statement.
“We’ve lived through many ups and downs, but nothing has made us more worried for our country than the threat posed by a second Trump term. He has promised to be a dictator on day one, and the recent ruling by his servile Supreme Court will only embolden him to further shred the Constitution,” their statement continued. “Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we’ve got to elect her. America’s future depends on it.”
While most major Democratic figures endorsed Harris within the first few days, Sen. Bernie Sanders took a more cautious approach. He spoke to Harris, emphasizing the importance of focusing on the working class, a key constituency in the upcoming election.
“What I want to see — because I want her to win — is to speak to the needs of people who have been forgotten for so many years,” Sanders said.

The entertainment industry, which had previously supported Biden, quickly rallied behind Harris. Beyonce Knowles Olivia Rodrigo, George Clooney, Barbra Streisand, John Legend, Spike Lee, and many others expressed their support, citing Harris’s stance on reproductive rights and her promise to stop Donald Trump’s extreme abortion bans.
Even international stars like British pop artist Charli XCX and Beyoncé’s family have shown their support, with Beyoncé granting permission for her song “Freedom” to be used in a campaign video. The endorsements from the music and film world underscore the broad appeal and momentum Harris’s campaign have generated.
In a poignant note, the late former President Jimmy Carter, at 99, reportedly expressed his desire to make it to his 100th birthday to cast his vote for Kamala Harris, highlighting the significance of her candidacy across generations.
As the 2024 presidential race heats up, Kamala Harris stands as a unifying figure within the Democratic Party, with a surge of endorsements and financial support signaling her strong position in the race.
With the backing of former presidents, party leaders, and cultural icons, Harris is poised to take on the challenge of securing the nomination and facing off against Donald Trump in what is expected to be a highly contentious election.
