Conservatives are now angry at the fact that their tax dollars are now being spent to build five new “luxury buildings” for illegal migrants in Brunswick, Maine. For the most part, many state that there are other issues that the federal government and local governments can solve. This should not be on their priority list. 

According to the Daily Mail, public outcry has surged as a town in Democrat-run Maine allocates millions for luxury apartments for asylum seekers while numerous U.S.-born residents experience homelessness. Immigrants have recently moved into 24 high-end apartments in Brunswick, Maine, sparking criticism of the reported $3.5 million expenditure on 60 migrant families. 

Critics argue that this decision, amid rising homelessness and frigid weather in Maine, reflects skewed priorities. Maine, with over 4,000 homeless residents, grapples with one of America’s highest tax burdens. 

Furthermore, Republicans are criticizing President Biden and are pushing for stricter measures. The decision also underscores growing public concern, as 93% of Americans view the southern border situation as a crisis or serious problem, according to recent polls.

Furthermore, Endwokeness on X states that two years worth of rent will be absorbed by the government, many thinking that it is taxpayer dollars. X users state that this whole move is a “slap in the face” to the tax paying Americans. Discussions that the government is not nearly as focused with the veterans who fought for America. Homeless Americans are also not getting the same treatment. 

Users state that this is as un-American as it gets. The state of Maine should be detained from receiving federal funding, this is according to conservatives on X. Another user says that people in general don’t appreciate the things they get for free. They then speculate that these luxury buildings will be trashed within a year.
