Greer Blitzer

In recent tweets, Greer Blitzer from The Bachelor, came to the defence of a friend from Lamar High School in Houston, Texas, who was facing controversy for having applied black paint to her face. According to Blitzer, the friend had participated in an initiation ceremony as part of a school club or organisation.

However, the act of putting black paint on one’s face is considered by many to be culturally insensitive and offensive, as it perpetuates harmful stereotypes and undermines the struggles of the Black community. As a result, Blitzer’s friend faced backlash and criticism on social media, with many calling for consequences and accountability.

In response to the criticism, Blitzer stepped forward to defend her friend and explain the context of the situation. She emphasised the friend’s good intentions and argued that the act should not be taken out of context or misinterpreted. Despite this, many disagreed with Blitzer’s stance and felt that the act was still insensitive and wrong, regardless of the circumstances.

=The incident highlights the ongoing debate about cultural appropriation and the need for greater sensitivity and understanding. As society becomes more diverse and inclusive, it is important for individuals to be mindful of their actions and the impact they may have on others.

Greer Blitzer’s deleted tweets

Apparently Blitzer claimed that it was not as bad as people seem to make it out to be. One of her deleted tweets stated, “This previous incident was dumb but not racist. She did not paint herself black because she felt superior to black ppl.”

Netizens are questioning the fact that television producers are even screening through the people who are joining their shows. Nowadays, anyone’s digital footprints are embedded on their social media, and there are those that advise new starlets to recreate their social media accounts in order to avoid criticisms.

Some conservatives questioned why people of other races can wear blonde weaves but White people are criticised for wearing braids. This issue sparked a subjective debate, with different perspectives and opinions on the matter. Some argue that hair should be treated as a personal choice, while others believe that cultural appropriation should be taken into consideration.
