Drag Performers

Recently, to commemorate the LGBTQ history the city of San Francisco has, a drag school was opened. The school will be led by Honey Mahoney, who is also serving as the chair for the San Francisco Democratic Party. This is leading conservatives to leave comments of disapproval towards the matter.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, San Francisco is set to establish its first-ever school exclusively dedicated to the art of drag. The Stud Collective, known for the upcoming reopening of the Stud LGBTQ bar, is collaborating with the performing arts organization CounterPulse to launch a school focused on drag performance essentials and the rich history of San Francisco’s gender-punk drag tradition.

Furthermore, this initiative aims to emphasize the longstanding heritage of drag as a folk art, dating back to ancient times. The school will be integrated into the Stud Arts organization, sponsored by CounterPulse, with classes commencing upon the Stud bar’s reopening in early 2024.

Conservatives not happy with new drag school in San Francisco

X users state that children should not be exposed to learning drag culture. However, there currently is no indication that there will be courses for children. Despite this, there is still a probability that it might happen. For now, it appears that this school is meant for adults, but conservatives are speculating otherwise.

Following that, users are asking questions if a school like this is receiving federal funding from the government. Libs Of TikTok states that they will look further into this situation. Currently, the US government’s involvement in multiple wars and the underfunding of public schools across the country is a real problem.

In addition to this, conservatives state that in an effort to please all the minorities, America is losing its core values. A meme shows a depiction of older individuals scolding younger ones for looking at inappropriate pictures of biological women. However, in the same meme, it shows that adults are encouraging kids to watch drag queens in their inappropriate gears.

Regardless, it is simply up to the perceptions of parents and guardians of children to see or entertain this.
