The friend of Kung fu legend Bruce Lee once helped Nancy Sit, a popular child actress in the 60s to escape a bid to kidnap her.

Hong Kong star Sit was in Taiping in Malaysia, staying in a hotel with her mother and Lee’s childhood friend Unicorn Chan.

69-year-old Sit recalled this dark episode in her life in a segment called True Or False on a TVB variety show Liza’s Online last week.

The actress remembered that at 3 am there was a loud knocking on her hotel room.

Sit was asked to “get up” and “run” which she did with her mother.

The actress said she was still holding onto her pillow and didn’t know what was going on.

Sit, her mother, Unicorn Chan and other production crew left in three cars on the way to Ipoh.

All tyres on all the vehicles were punctured and they had to stop mid-way.

Sit recalled that Chan was armed with a knife, reacting by staying close to her.

Sit cried although others tried to calm her down as she was alarmed by the situation.

As there was no mobile phones then, Sit had a bodyguard who said he would go and inform the police.

The police arrived but they were alerted earlier by the boss of a company that had arranged for her to perform in Malaysia.

Sit then added that Chan carried a knife because he noticed that the bodyguard was looking suspiciously at the car tyres earlier.

The actress shared the details to the audience in the studio, where some of them were sceptical of her story.

Later on, it was revealed that the bodyguard had conspired with others in the abduction attempt.

The bodyguard “made an excuse to leave us to call the police but he was actually going to inform” his gang members to strike.

Sit said it was fortunate that Chan was by her side then but she did not say if the bodyguard was later caught and jailed.

The actress confirmed that she had told the truth in the show segment but when Wang asked the audience if they believed here, not all were convinced.
