Nielsen Korea statistics showed that the final episode of the hit show scored an average nationwide rating of 17.5 percent, a new all-time high for the show.
According to a Soompi report, Extraordinary Attorney Woo also won first place in its time slot across all channels among viewers between 20 and 49 years old.
It’s executive producer Lee Sang Baek said that he hoped to produce season 2 of the show.
Other Korean shows that have been trending include Adamas and If You Wish Upon Me.
Extraordinary Attorney Woo first aired on Netflix on June 29. The story revolves around lawyer Woo Young Woo who has autism but she also has an eidetic memory that makes her a brilliant lawyer as she has the ability to recall legal precedent to refute opposing lawyers claims and build strong arguments.
Being different from her peers her manner of communication comes across as awkward and odd but nevertheless, she is endearing as she breaks stereotypes surrounding the legal fraternity.
The series has won much acclaim for dealing with a difficult topic and diving into the struggles that people on the spectrum have as they are not able to follow social conventions and lack the ability to deal with people ‘normally’ due to sensory and communication differences.
The show’s characters bring together a change that we need to see in the world as it promotes a kinder and gentler society where people are able to accept each other’s differences well.
Woo’s character is played by Park Eun-bin who works at the Hanbada law firm. Her co-stars include Kang Tae-oh, Kang Ki-young and Jeon Bae-soo who plays Woo’s father.
