Popular American pop singer and songwriter Taylor Swift revealed to fans that she may not be able to perform at a music awards ceremonies because record executives said she could not.

There is an ongoing row over the ownership of her songs and the 29-year-old accused the executives of exercising ‘tyrannical control’ over her music.

Swift appealed to her 85 million followers on Twitter to give her support during this trying time.

The singer was to receive the ‘Artist of the Decade’ prize at the American Music Awards ceremony later this year.

Braun also represents Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber among others.

At 15, Swift signed with Big Machine but she left last November for Universal Music Group, a unit of French conglomerate Vivendi, and released her first album with UMG in August.

For Swift, she said that her performance at the AMAs, the Netflix documentary and any other recorded events she is planning to play until November 2020 are a question mark.
