Fans of Blackpink, hold on to your seats, the K-pop girls will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards which is less than two weeks away. On August 15, Blackpink was announced as one of four artists to be added to the line up for the 2022 VMAs joining an all-star list of musicians and vocalists.

The group made their US award show debut on August 15 with their single Pink Venom from their second studio album Born Pink.

In 2020 Blackpink became the first K-pop group to win a VMA when they won Song of the Summer with How You Like That. This year Blackpink was nominated for Best Metaverse Performance. For her self-titled track Lalisa, the group’s vocalist Lisa is also nominated in the Best K-pop category as the first ever solo female K-pop star and Korean soloist.

Meanwhile Pink Venom will be released on August 19 while their second studio album Born Pink will drop on September 16.

The other group making their first VMA debut is Maneskin. The Italian glam rock band will be performing their hit single Supermodel. Maneskin was also nominated in two categories: Best New Artist and Best Alternative.

Lizzo will also be performing her song 2 Be Loved from her new album Special. This will be her second live performance at the VMAs. In 2019 she sang a mash-up of Good As Hell and Truth Hurts. She is nominated in four categories this year including Artist of the Year and Song of the Year.

Other star-studded performers and vocalist at the awards ceremony includes Anita, J Balvin, Marshmello X, Khalid, Panic! At the Disco, Jack Harlow, Kane Brown and Nicki Minaj.

The awards ceremony will take place at the New Jersey Prudential Centre in Newark on Sunday August 28.
