Lyles

At the Florida Collegiate International 2024 in Gainesville, American sprinting star Noah Lyles made an unexpected debut that sent shockwaves across the indoor track community. After taking first place in the men’s 60-meter event in an astounding 6.63 seconds, he decided not to start the 2024 indoor season at the New Balance Indoor Grand Prix.

Lyles had added an extra element of intrigue to his surprise victory in Florida by making fun of his participation in the Boston indoor competition on X (previously Twitter). As Lyles rewrites the story of his 2024 indoor season, the expectation grows.

Noah Lyles defeated Tokyo Olympian Eric Harrison (6.65) and former Pan American Games gold medallist Kendal Williams (6.68) in an exciting collegiate event. The competition included individual open athletes, which increased the intensity despite its collegiate setting. Lyles’ outstanding performance made the event a dramatic skill display in addition to showcasing his athletic prowess.

She said; “The world champion has officially returned to the track for 2024 👀 Noah Lyles (@LylesNoah) makes his indoor season debut at the Florida Collegiate Invitational in Gainesville with a 6.63 win in the 60m.” an article from sportskeeda.com shared.

Lyles and Usain Bolt

Lyles equalled Usain Bolt’s 2015 record at the 2023 World Athletics Championships, winning gold in the men’s 100-, 200-, and 4×100-meter relays (19.52s), respectively, alongside colleagues Coleman, Kerley, and Carnes. He increased his total number of World Championship medals to seven with this treble—six gold and one silver—further establishing his reputation as a sprinting phenomenon and making a lasting impression on track and field.

In 2023, World Athletics created history by giving out prizes in three different categories. Men’s Track Athlete of the Year winner Noah Lyles was recognized for his outstanding outdoor campaign. In the women’s track, Faith Kipyegon dominated by setting records in the mile, 5000m, and 1500m.

Armand Duplantis and Yulimar Rojas were honored for their achievements in field events. Marathoners Kelvin Kiptum and Tigist Assefa won the “out of stadiums” division. The wide range of winners here demonstrates the talent and accomplishments in athletics around the world.
