Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’s director announced

Avengers:The Kang Dynasty will be directed by the same person who did Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Destin Daniel Cretton.

The fifth Avengers film was officially announced during the Marvel Stuido Panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said The Kang Dynasty and Avengers:Secret Wars will wrap up Phase 6.

The other movie that has been confirmed for this phase is Fantastic Four.

Destin Daniel Cretton is responsible for introducing audiences to Shang-Chi played by Simu Liu. A sequel to Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is also in the pipeline, with Cretton as director.

There has not been much publicity about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty other than its release date on May 2, 2025. It is rumoured that Jonathan Majors will play the villainous Kang the Conqueror.

Major made his first appearance as Kang in He Who Remains in Season 1 of Loki and will also play the same in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Aside from this announcements were also made for three more Marvel films, Mahershala Ali’s Blade, Captain America:New World Order and Thunderbolts. These will be directed by Bassam Tariq of Mogul Mowgli fame, Julius Onah (Luce) and Jake Schreier respectively.

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Cretton spoke about the post credits scene for Shang-Chi which included Avengers’ Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo) and Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) who couldn’t be physically in the same place as Simu Liu and Awkwafina due to Covid-19 protocols.

“They were holograms practically because those characters would not be able to be in that same room in the Marvel Cinematic Universe because of what they are up to in other areas of the MCU,” said Cretton.

“They were also holograms because there’s no way with COVID that we could have got those actors together. So we were not in the same room. So when you see Simu performing, he’s (looking at something else).”
