Many fans of the singer seem to believe so after her former flame, Gerard Piqué, accidentally fell through a hole on stage during the launch event for his Kings League Americas 7-on-7 tournament. The incident was captured in a video obtained by TMZ, showing the retired soccer star walking towards the edge of the stage to engage with his supporters, but he took a misstep and disappeared from view, causing concern among his fans.
Piqué managed to extricate himself from the hole and thankfully avoided any injuries from the mishap. Following this incident, Shakira’s supporters quickly took to social media to criticize the Spanish athlete, viewing the fall as a form of karma for allegedly mistreating Shakira prior to their separation.

Some of the comments from Shakira’s fans included statements like, “Don’t disrespect the queen of the stage and then expect the stage to treat you kindly,” and “You can’t escape KARMA, oh well, Pique.” Others even referred to it as “Shakira’s voodoo” and considered the fall both embarrassing and deserved.
Shakira, 46, and Piqué, 36, had announced their separation in June 2022, emphasizing the importance of their children’s well-being and requesting privacy from their fans. The couple shares two sons, Milan, aged 10, and Sasha, aged 8.
Difficulties of breakup
Shakira opened up about the challenges of their breakup in October 2022, describing it as “incredibly difficult,” especially given their public profiles and the impact on their children. She also reflected on the sacrifices she made for Piqué’s career and her role as a devoted mother.
In January, it was revealed that Shakira was deeply affected by Piqué’s new girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, who was seen in the background of one of his Zoom meetings at their shared home in 2021. Shakira expressed her emotions through a collaboration with Argentine producer Bizarrap, where she alluded to the breakup and her feelings towards Piqué’s new relationship.
