Tom Holland is the favourite to play James Bond

British actor Tom Holland is apparently the favourite to play James Bond according to The Today Show. Holland is the front-runner after Idris Elba decided not to take the role.

Incidentally Holland himself is a big fan of James Bond films. The 26 year old said “Essentially I’m such a big fan of James Bond. I’ve loved Daniel Craig’s movies. And I just thought, if they were to move on it would be really exciting to see how James Bond becomes James Bond. So I pitched this idea for a movie, which is kind of a stupid idea.

“Essentially you wouldn’t tell the audience that it was a James Bond movie until the end, but from a marketing point of view, that’s a nightmare. We have to hand it to Holland, that would be quite the twist, but I don’t know if producers would like to promote a vague ‘international spy flick’.

The actor recently announced that he is taking a mental health break.

“So I have taken a break from social media for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter to be over stimulating, to be overwhelming, I get caught up and I spiral when I read things about me online and ultimately it’s very detrimental to my mental state, so I decided to take a step back and delete the app.”

The actor is also promoting a charity with his brothers called Stem 4, which is an educational programme informing people how to manage their mental health.

“There is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn’t something that we should be ashamed of, but it’s something that is much easier said than done. So hopefully these apps can be your first step towards being happier and healthier.”

It looks like Tom Holland maybe a hero in more ways than one.
